A Wilde Idea
Get ready to be transported back to the era of cuffs, manners, relatives and high society in StageIT's A Wilde Idea, an abridged adaptation of Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest, and Salome.
In the first part of this double-bill, The Importance of Being Earnest, examines the themes of class division and reveals its relevance to society today.
The evening’s second play, Salomé - a seemingly simple one-act tragedy about the act of looking, demonstrates how, by consuming lust with our eyes, we are in turn ironically consumed by it.

GAYA 2013: Kronologi
SMUKI returns with another rendition of its annual production GAYA (Gelar Budaya), a showcase of the rich and multi-faceted culture of Indonesia.
GAYA 2013: Kronologi is a contemporary narration of the famous Malin Kundang story, a dignified account of the 1960s transition to the New Order, which witnessed a period of clash between traditional and modern art forms. Keep your eyes peeled for traditional Indonesian art forms Wayang Kulit, Pencak Silat, and the Saman dance during this dramatisation of Indonesian’s eventful history and rich cultural heritage.

Enter a fantasy world of hypnotic music, dizzying lights and flashy dancing in Una Noche En Havana (A Night in Havana)!
Be seduced by the sexy Bailadores dancers as we go back to the enchanting 1950s, to Havana’s most infamous Tropicana Club. There, Cuba’s most-talked-about annual Salsa competition is underway, and eager dancers, clad in their shimmery best, vie for a place in the elusive Bailadores Dance Troupe. Not far away are the ever-watchful eyes of Havana’s mafia lords, who have a questionable interest in the competition. Will the best dancer triumph out of pure skill or will the city’s notorious mafias prove too hot to handle? Find out who rules the dance world in this night of drama, intrigue, and of course, slick and spicy-like-salsa moves!
Genesis: The Beginning
Samba Masala’s ethnic beginnings take centrestage, bringing together the Malay Kompang, the Indian Dhol and the Chinese Gu as well as the Afro-Brazilian Samba instruments both individually and collaboratively. Watch out also for new arrangements and collaborations with Idham Budiman of local percussion band Wicked Aura, and SMU’s very own Capoeira group.
gl'Amour IV: Memoirs Through Time
Ballare's annual production gl'Amour showcases the beauty of standard ballroom dance through timeless classics and modern pieces. The event, guided by both seasoned choreographers as well as an internationally renowned dance coach, also provides a platform to cultivate budding student choreographers.
Unfolding like a diary, Memoirs Through Time traces the evolution of ballroom dance through time and history.
Stereometa presents its first dance music showcase! a multimedia presentation of four distinct genres of dance music.
DJs from Stereometa will take the audience through a timeline of the EDM (Electronic Dance Movement) industry – The House genre exploded in 1980s, infusing Chicago and disco sound into dance music. By the early 1990s, the Hip Hop culture heavily influenced dance music. Then Trance music took over in the 2000s, marked by notable Trance festivals worldwide. In 2010, the infusion of trance, dupstep and techno gave rise to the popularity of Progressive House genre.
Stereometa DJs will be spinning the four different genres at each hour, starting with Disco House, followed by Hip Hop, then Trance, and ending with Progressive House. The audience is welcome at any point in the over four-hour program.

SMU Symphonia 10th Anniversary Concert
From its humble beginnings in 2003 as a small ensemble, Symphonia has grown steadily over the decade into a full-fledged wind symphony, comprising musicians from both within and beyond the University. Its emergence as an outstanding tertiary band could not have been possible without the endeavours of all its members.
This gala concert aims to honour the contributions of both alumni and present members with the performance of significant pieces that mark the milestones in this band's history. Led by resident conductor Adrian Chiang, the evening’s repertoire will include previous concert themes, as well as the premiere of commissioned pieces by local composers Zaidi Sabtu-Ramli and Wong Fei Yang.
Starry Night XVII: Greatest Hits!
Sound Foundry marks the last day of the school term with Starry Nite: Greatest Hits! Another night of exhilarating live music, featuring their best student performers and local indie bands.
SMU's very own a cappella club returns with their own take on retro favourites and contemporary mash ups.
STEPS 2013: Reminiscence
INDANCITY's STEPS originated in 2011 as a platform for budding student choreographers to create original dance works. This year, in line with the U+ARTS Season theme, 'Retrospect', INDANCITY looks back at our local traditions, culture and history.
Under the guidance of Li Yong Wei, Susan Yeung and resident choreographer Dan Kwoh, the mesmerising dancers in Reminiscence will revive the kopitiams and traditional games from our kampong past in this nostalgic dance journey down memory lane.
Opening the Doors to Funk
Wondering where the funk has gone? Look no further - SMU Funk Movement is here to bring it all back in its inaugural production, Opening the Doors to Funk. From popping and locking to waacking, this promises to be a fun and groovy tour of street dance styles. Also featuring special guests: SMU's very own hip hop dance club, Eurhythmix, and the SMU Breakers.
The U+ARTS Show
Kicking off the new U+ARTS Season is The U+ARTS Show - a non-stop seven-hour celebration of the arts, helmed by the talented emcees of SMU Broadcast & Entertainment.
Held in conjunction with SMU's 13th annual Patron's Day, this extended talk-show-cum-arts showcase will feature performances by our very own clubs Samba Masala, Voix, INDANCITY, and Eurhythmix; as well as guest appearances by local rock favourites Jive Talkin', comedy sketch troupe Chestnuts, a cappella group Budak Pantai, and stand-up comedian Kumar.
Watch out also for Singapore’s President and our SMU Patron, Dr Tony Tan, as he drops by for his Patron’s Day campus tour.
